I am a native German. My husband ’s work brought us to the United States and we have been US citizens since 2009.
As a child, I had a pet sitting job for a short haired Dachshund named Waldi. He became part of our family.
After my third child turned two, I decided to get a dog. In 1994, Belgian Sheepdog Bonnie became child #4. We did puppy training and obedience and I titled her to a CDX. She was our beloved family pet until she passed in 2009, the same year my youngest son left for college.
After some research, we brought another Belgian Sheepdog, Lucy, into our family. The first year we tried different sports and I grew to enjoy agility. Lucy was a worker bee and a doer and whatever I started she gave 100%.
In 2010, we started training at the Durham Kennel Club and Lucy soon had titles in Agility, Obedience, and Rally. I knew nothing about conformation but with the help of the DKC instructors she became Grand Champion.
Lucy turned 3 and I was considering breeding a litter. With the mentoring of Lucy ’s breeder, I bred my first litter of 7 puppies. A year later we traveled to Italy where I bred Lucy again and kept Roxy from this litter.
Lucy and Roxy became my dream team. Both excelled in Agility. My proudest moments with these two were their conformation Grand Championships and MACHs. The icing on the cake was in 2020, when I qualified with both dogs for the AKC Agility Invitationals. Roxy and I made it to the finals.
I bred Roxy and kept Kiera who is now 18 months old. We are looking forward to Scent Work.
With the help of the Durham Kennel Club I have finished three dogs to Grand Champions, two of them in the bred-by class. I enjoy the commitment to dogs and hope to train there for many years to come.
