I have lived in Raleigh all my life. I am married to Keith Harrison, and we have two grown daughters, Margie and Meg. I worked in the insurance industry for 40 years.
I grew up in a home of dog lovers. My father had a pointer and a beagle, and my mother owned Irish Setters. As a child I acquired a miniature dachshund which fueled my love of purebred dogs.
In 1980 I obtained my first pug, Aggie, and my love for this breed began. I began attending an obedience class, and Aggie was quite successful despite me. She won the Best-in-Class trophy (I still have it proudly displayed) and I was hooked on working with her in obedience.
In 1981 I purchased my first show pug, CH Harrison's Sassy Sampson. Sam was out of Herman Fowler's breeding, a Durham Kennel Club member who became my mentor. I joined DKC in 1982. My proudest moment was finishing my first home bred champion, CH Harrison's ’s Wiggles. Ever since then I have shown in the Bred By Exhibitor class with my kennel name, Curlique.
I have bred and shown 37 pugs to their Championship and Grand Championships. I also have earned a RN title on my beloved Charlie, and I have earned many CGC titles. I enjoy Rally, Obedience, and Trick Dog training.
In addition to DKC, I am a member of Raleigh Kennel Club (serving as Treasurer and Board Member), and Central Carolina Pug Dog Club (currently serving as President) where I was honored to be made a Lifetime Member. I have also been active in the Pug Dog Club of America since 1982.
I am grateful to DKC for the many opportunities it affords the members. DKC has allowed me to make so many friends who share the same commitment to their respective breeds as I do to my pug breed. I am so privileged to be a part of this dedicated group of people!
