We transferred to Raleigh, NC in 1996 after living the majority of our lives in south east Florida. Several years later, we discovered the Labor Day Cluster and for many years, we attended 2 - 3 days of the circuit. We simply enjoyed chatting, observing, and learning about dogs. At that time, we were not looking to expand our household, but fate had other plans!
Â
In 2006, we adopted our first dog “Moby”, who soon became a very well known ambassador for our Chinese Crested breed. Ironically, he chose Susan, and very quickly took ownership of her heart! For Dick, we adopted “Tally”, Moby’s littermate sister. From there our family grew!Â
We joined Durham Kennel Club in 2008, and soon after, joined a few other local and national breed clubs. We were determined to learn everything we could about our breed, and dogs in general. Very quickly, we were involved in various activities with our new partners! As a result, Moby and Tally have both achieved remarkable accomplishments over the years and have held the top National Breed Rankings for Versatility achievements over consecutive years! Moby’s offsprings, “Booh” and “Heavenly” have also held National Breed Rankings in Versatility and Conformation, respectively. In addition, our 3rd generation of pups continue to excel and are on their way to creating their own titled legacies too, so far in Conformation, Agility, and Rally! We continue to be excited for what the future will bring!
We are truly appreciative and grateful to all the excellent trainers at DKC who helped us develop and refine our skills so that we have been able to be competitive! It is because of their friendship, leadership, and influence that we both have been able to “give back” as instructors to DKC, to other clubs, and to the community with Therapy Dog comfort and support to the older generation!Â
