Nancy Akers

Nancy Akers has been a DKC member for 20 years.
When she was 7 years old she got her first dog, a Border Collie she found and brought home. “Rex” was her constant companion and lived to be 17!


Nancy has owned Shelties since college, and she has also had German Shepherd Dogs with her husband Roger.


DKC is where all her dog sports started. She first saw agility on TV, then trained “Chollie” with Denise McDonald.


Nancy then got “Shep” and began Obedience work and competition, earning his UD and MACH2. Lisa Roberts helped get Shep’s Herding title.Nancy’s proudest moment was Shep getting “Best All Around” at the Sheltie Specialty.


She is an instructor and a competitor. Her favorite sport being agility, where she feels part of a “dog/trainer team” with Tupper.
Nancy enjoys the DKC because of the friendships with members having similar interests.
“Dogs were always in my heart.”
