Since the age of 5, I have never been without a dog. My first dog was a red and white cocker spaniel with freckles like me; her name was Mitzi. She was my best friend and constant companion. I remember going to obedience school with her and winning a little plastic trophy that I still have to this day!
After I graduated with a B.F.A. from the University of Oklahoma, I came back home to N.C., got a job with Parks and Rec. at the Arts center, and a German Shepherd right after that. I took her to obedience classes in the parking deck of North Hills with Judy Morton. We both had a very good start in obedience training.
My next German Shepherd and I made our way to DKC for classes with Marge White. We finally got up the courage to go for our CD and finished in 3 consecutive legs.
In 1997, I brought home my first Pembroke Welsh Corgi and have been in love with this breed ever since. We have tried a little herding, and tracking, but my main focus is agility and rally.
I have 3 Corgis now. Cooper the oldest and most challenging finally received his PACH and PAX in Aug. '17, a feat I never thought we would reach. Grayson is the puppy and has been a delight to train, he has a bright future ahead I hope! Ellie is my super star: a breed Champion, RAE, and 2 MACHS. We were very honored to receive the DKC Whorton Agility trophy for 2017.
I have always thought that the DKC has the best classes and the most experienced, excellent instructors in our area, with so much to offer for every dog and owner. All the events are so well organized and well done.
