Obedience Awards  

Luster Novice Trophy

The Novice Obedience Award, donated by Dr. and Mrs. Michael Luster, is awarded each year to the dog or bitch, owned or co-owned by a DKC member, earning a CD during the calendar year (January-December). The FIRST THREE qualifying scores upon which the CD title is earned are the only scores to be considered in awarding this trophy.

Stella C. Maunsell Trophy

This trophy, donated by Linda Wozniak, is in honor of long time Durham Kennel Club member Stella C. Maunsell. It is awarded to a member’s Poodle dog or bitch excelling in Obedience during the past calendar year (January-December). The trophy can be earned for Beginner Novice and up and is based on performance.

Telander Open A Trophy

This award is donated by Jeff and Jodi Telander. It is to be awarded annually to recognize the dog or bitch, owned by a DKC member, earning a Companion Dog Excellent title in Open A classes. The FIRST THREE qualifying scores upon which the CDX title is earned are the only scores to be considered in awarding this trophy.

Thompson Trophy

This trophy was donated by Mrs. M. J. Thompson. It is awarded to the member’s dog or bitch excelling in obedience during the past calendar year (January-December). The trophy can be earned for CDs and up and is based on performance.

White Utility A Trophy

This award is donated by Marjorie J. White. It is offered annually to recognize the dog or bitch, owned and handled by a DKC member, who during the Awards calendar year January- December) earned a Utility title from the Utility A classes. The FIRST THREE qualifying scores upon which the UD title is earned are the only scores to be considered in awarding this trophy.

Utility Dog Excellent

This award was donated by a friend of DKC in 2022 to reward an A handler for his/her first Utility Dog Excellent (UDX).  It shall be awarded to recognize the dog or bitch, owned, trained and handled by a DKC member earning the team’s first UDX title after completing both their Open and Utility titles in the A classes.  The UDX title must have been received in the award calendar year.  

If there are multiple applicants earning a UDX, the scores from the first 10 legs that earned the UDX will be used to choose a winner. 

Special Recognition Awards - Obedience and Rally

Perfect 200 in Obedience; Obedience Trial Champion (OTCH); Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE); High in Trial at a National Specialty (obedience only at your breed's National Specialty). These awards appear on the large wall plaques at the DKC building.
